Operating CW, SSB and FM is OK most of the time but some variety is good, especially when you are retired and need to keep the ole brain going. PSK31 was my first venture into digital modes and use it just about every day mostly on the 40 and 20 meter bands. One day after erecting a medium sized 2 meter beam, some rather strange sounds were found below 144.2 MHz and after some investigation, discovered it was "Meteor Scatter" communications using the popular WSJT software by Joe Taylor K1JT. I was successful making many contacts using my beam and about 90 watts on 2 meters. Then after putting up a 5 element 6 meter beam, some new sounds were again discovered. WSJT was also used on 6 meters but a different slow pulse changing in frequency was heard. I discovered it was Moonbounce using JT65 and tried many times to at least hear an EME station but we only operate about 100 watts on 6 meters. Below are some sounds that you may have heard mostly on the HF bands and wondered what they were. Take a look at the sub pages from this page where I will attempt to place information there as I go along. PSK31 JT6M
